Hellenic Air Force buying Su-35 ?

Story about Greece is buying Su-35 is again in the air. Based on story from defencenet.gr, its again actual. For years, this is rolling story.

Rosoboronexport (Russian export/import weapons agency) sees Greece as a potential new owner of this 4++ generation bird. Story is about Russia will sell 40 jets to HAF.

Russian_Su_35_Fighters

Turkey will receive F-35 in next years, so, HAF need to refresh their fleet. Price is very cheaper than western fighters, but nothing will change in avionics and armament than original Su-35.

Not sure how this will go, because whole Hellenic AF is absolutely sided to western technology and armament, and also one very important point is, Greece is NATO country. How will react Nato officials on this…not sure.

Hellenic army already bought equipment from Russia in past, Navy hovercrafts ZUBR class LCAC, but it wasnt strategic important like buying Su-35 jets. Hellenic army already meet Russian SAM systems S-300, TOR, GOA, but some of these systems were adopted from Cyprus after conflict on Island with Turks. On the other side, is there a Russian wish to sell 4++ jets to one Nato country so western technology can see whats inside in modern Su-35 jets? Those are not small questions…Russians are very positive about this, but nothing official from Greek side about this. Is this just story or true, we need to wait and see.

Russia possible supply China Su-35

“During the talks, we informed the Chinese side that we can supply a standard version of the Su-35 jet fighters, which has been completed and tested, and received Russian Air Force’s certificate,” said Russian official at the Zhuhai Air Show.

“Only flight tests of all types of missiles used by the Su-35 jet fighter require 1,000 flying hours. We can’t do this,” he said.

“The other thing is that the jet fighters are supplied to the Chinese party, the Sukhoi company will be ready to conduct the additional design and experimental work, complete software and introduce writing in aircraft equipment in Chinese,” the official said.

But on the other side, “Jane`s“ wrote that Russia and China still at odds over Su-35 sale. Final contract agreement has been hampered by the two sides’ refusal to compromise on certain key negotiating positions.

China has been trying to acquire the aircraft – along with its Saturn 117S jet engine – for more than four years now.

One of the earliest points of contention in this process was Russian insistence on a minimum buy of 48 aircraft: a position that has since softened to a procurement of just 24 units. (source:Jane`s)

China is also interested to buy missiles from Russia for their jets. Problem was, or better to say, problem is still actual  – Ukraine conflict:

“Earlier, Ukraine supplied the R-27 air-to-air missiles. Enterprises of the Tactical Missiles Corporation manufactured 80% of components. Now we are fully meeting the needs of China,” Obnosov said. “For us supplies to Ukraine can be an additional source of revenue. That is why if the Ukrainian side makes a decision to continue exports to third countries with our components, probably, we will supply our components to them,” Obnosov said.

Russia claims this satellite image shows moment flight MH17 was shot down by fighter jet

‘Experts’ claim the pictures prove the passenger plane was targeted by a Ukrainian warplane and not a surface-to-air missile operate by rebels as previously believed

These sensational new pictures allegedly show Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 being shot down by a fighter jet.

The photographs were broadcast tonight by Russian state media as evidence the passenger plane was shot down in July by a Ukrainian warplane and not a ground to air missile as previously believed.

It was claimed that the images were produced by a British or US satellite.

The “leaked” pictures show a missile streaking towards the MH17 flight which was downed, killing all 298 people on board, it was claimed.

TV presenter Mikhail Leontiev claimed the mysterious source who provided the images concluded they showed “how a Mig-29 fighter plane destroys the Boeing passenger plane”.

The West has repeatedly suggested the plane was shot down by pro-Moscow rebels using a Russian-made BUK missile system.

Russia has argued an unidentified plane was in vicinity at the time of the crash, and that Ukraine and the West have hushed up this fact.

The Kremlin-owned channel’s presenter said: “Today we have all grounds to suppose that a State crime was committed by those who deliberately destroyed the plane. And by those who are cynically hiding it, having the full information.”

The extraordinary broadcast came ahead of Western leaders including David Cameron confronting Vladimir Putin over the crash at a summit in Australia.

Channel One claimed: “We have at our disposal a sensational shot, supposedly made by foreign satellite spy during the final seconds of MH17 above Ukraine.”

The reported disputed a BUK missile as the cause of the tragedy.

“To cut it short, it looks like there was no BUK and no launch from the ground. There were dozens professional and thousands of amateur witnesses, and no-one registered it,” claimed Leontiev.

Ivan Adrievskiy,  vice president of Russian Engineers Union, said: “We see a photograph taken from space  from a low orbit. Usually such images are taken for the sake of general reconnaissance of the air and the ground.

“The coordinates of the photograph mean we can suppose that the image was taken by an American or British satellite.

“We have studied this picture in detail and did not find any sign proving it to be fake.”

An “expert” called George Bilt was cited as saying the Boeing was shot out of the sky in “a classic fighter jet attack from the rear”.
